Who am I?

Hello all! My name is Eric Shippee. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Richmond. I am majoring in Economics with a double concentration in Data Analytics and Finance. At the moment I find myself in pursuit of a professional career, ideally in the banking or machine learning realm.

I enjoy expressing ideas in fashion that is multifaceted, hence the website. I also just enjoy learning, and I don't mean to be trite. Learning, in my experience, is an expressive venture in that learning about new topics also exposes new interests or skills within yourself. Aside from learning; however, I also like to spend my time traveling, listening to music, and participating in physical activities, whether that be soccer or surfing.

Traveling in particular I enjoy for its unmatched element of discovery and spontaneity. The photo of me above is from a recent trip to Hawaii I partook in. This trip was planned by me and my roommate from our dorm room, with an extremely low budget and hopes that were probably too high for our own good. This trip, despite a couple of life threatening situations (not an exaggeration), was one the most fulfilling experiences of my entire life. Don’t worry, I intend to tell that story here one day, but that is a tale for a different time.

As for the future, I have a trip planned for Portugal in the coming months, with a lot of surfing to be had there and in the Northeast this coming summer. In my professional life, I am still eagerly on the hunt for a summer internship for both this summer and the next. I aim to lock down at least one for both summers to engage my professional skills and learn about different industries before choosing my career.

To generalize my sprawling 19 year old life. I enjoy 60’s-80s music, I hope to be driving an Aston Martin 177 one day (racing green), if you have picked up a surfboard in your life there's a good chance we will get along, and if you ever want to plan a trip to an island halfway across the world with less than $5,000 to your name I will probably be in.
